Start a Tupperware Business

Tupperware Side Hustle Run Down:

Tupperware is quite possibly the god (goddess) of direct selling businesses! Or in my eyes anyway! It’s unlikely you’ll hear anyone say a bad word about their products and there’s many people that are brand loyal and advocates for the brand (a huge plus when thinking of starting your own Tupperware Business!). I personally LOVE my Tupperware and can reel off a handful of my favourite products anytime someone mentions they’re going to a Tupperware party or start browsing the catalogue the night before I’m invited to one.

Tupperware offers the flexibility to work where and when you want, and even allows you to be a fully online host now (no in-house parties if you don’t want to). We personally think the face-to-face parties are the most successful – as that’s where people can touch and feel the products, have a glass of bubbly with the girls, get caught up in the games and swept up in the atmosphere – then spend a few hundred on Tupperware! (Yep, it happens!).

If you haven’t been exposed to Tupperware before, it’s essentially a plastic container company. The products are really high quality and the over the years they’ve expanded into much more than just containers; knives, chopping boards, drink bottles, frying pans, special containers for the fridge, freezer, microwave and cupboard, kid’s utensils, toys and so, so much more.

Everyone can find SOMETHING they want at a Tupperware party.
You can see more about the brand here: https://www.tupperware.com.au/ or send me an email at hello@mamahustles.com and I can get you in touch with someone that can help you decide if it’s right for you!

Pros and cons of starting a tupperware business

PROS

  • Everyone loves the products (they sell themselves…)
  • Pick when you work – flexible around other work and family commitments
  • You don’t have to leave the house if you don’t want to!
  • Great for mums
  • Everyone has need for the goods that Tupperware sell – big buyer market!
  • Can be completely online now, and products ship direct to customer so no fiddly order packing
  • Get full training and support
  • Can earn holidays, cars and plenty of freebies

CONS

  • -here are lots of other Tupperware consultants out there, so your market is reduced in this way
  • If you’re an introvert it can be tricky to put yourself out there to generate sales or host parties
  • People can consider Tupperware a MLM scheme (multi level marketing scheme) and roll their eyes at these type of businesses. But – ignore them. Many people have created a successful hustle from this. It won’t be easy but no side hustle is!

Effort Required To Start A Tupperware Business

To get started: Minimal
Little effort to get started. You chat to a consultant and get can get signed up within the hour! All training and help is included and there ready for you to get going. There is usually a fee though to get your starter kit sent to you, but it’s full of their products which you get to keep regardless!

Ongoing: Moderate
The good thing with Tupperware is that the products practically sell themselves. All artwork and material is provided by Tupperware for each sale or monthly catalogue. You do however, need to get the products in front of new people and keep reminding people of the products (out of sight, out of mind!). Regularly updating a Facebook page or actively encouraging in-home parties through your extended networks needs to be done to keep the business going. “The more you put in, the more you’ll get out” is true in these kinds of businesses.

Tupperware Business Earning Potential

Consultants make 20% on every order that is placed, along with a range of other deals and incentives at certain times of the year or month. If you sign up a few friends or family members as Tupperware consultants too, you have potential to make extra income from their sales, and so on. For example, if you have 2 parties a month with $1000 in earnings (only working a few hours each…) you could make about $400!

As the value of the products is reasonably high, the earning potential is quite good. As long as you can keep getting the products out there and purchases happening you’ll have a nice little side hustle in your hands!

Cost Required To Start

Depending on when you sign up, there is a price for a ‘start up kit’ – at the time of writing this the current kit is $349 and includes over $800 worth of product value. You can get the cost of your kit back depending on your start-up sales too.
Included in the ‘kit’ is all training, heaps of products to showcase and try and everything you’ll need to get started. The value of products within it far exceeds the cost – so technically you’re not really paying to start the business as you get so much in free? Depends how you look at it.
