   This means you can enjoy your side hustle and if the earnings are limited as you are starting out you’ll still feel motivated to keep pushing on. Many people pick side hustles for a quick money earner and can be disappointed and disheartened if it takes longer than expected to start an income coming in. For example, if you don’t love tupperware – trying to sell it to your friends and family will be hard! Likewise if you’re thinking about starting a facepainting business but don’t really enjoy working with children, then you might need to reconsider too!
   
   
2. Pick something that can fit around your other commitments
   Side hustles are just that – on the side! Meaning they often come behind your other commitments in life such as full time work, children, sporting and family. They fill in your spare time, or need additional time allocated within your schedule. For example, if you’re thinking about becoming a VA but already work regular full time hours during the week – you may be limiting your opportunity for work with many businesses only operating usual working hours too. Something that you can work on once the kids have gone to bed for example may be something more suited to you. Perhaps you work in hospitality and nights and weekends are where most of your work lies, a PA side hustle may be a perfect way to fill in some paid hours during the day!
3. Choose a hustle that can offer you the earning potential you want
   This can be tricky, as we’d all love to be making hundreds and thousands from our side gig, but the reality is that takes a lot of work, time and commitment to grow a side hustle to bring in the big bucks. For some people doing a passion project, such as selling their own art, any income is a bonus as you’re doing what you love and enjoy putting your art out there. It may take some time to take off as you get exposure and your name out there. However if you’re committed to making an extra thousand dollars a month, you may choose a hustle that is in higher or regular demand and allows for higher margins – if you’re a children’s party magician, once your tricks and props are paid for all income is based on your hourly rate and 100% income.
   
   
4. Pick a product or service that is in demand or sellable
   Creating something or tailoring your side hustle to meet a demand is important to ensure you are able to actually make money and profit from your hustle. This doesn’t mean that you have to market to the masses, but as long as there is a market for your products or services then it’s got the green light. Not everything is in demand enough to offer a reasonable return for your efforts so this is something to keep in mind.

   This may seem obvious, but something to consider! You still need to be able to actually produce or create what it is that you want to sell! If you want to sell beautiful hand-knitted winter scarves, but don’t  know how to knit then you might have a problem!
   
   You can, however, use your desire to pursue a certain hustle to encourage you to learn or develop a new skill – This is totally fine also! Just bear in mind it may take a little time to develop a skill good enough to sell or hire your services of and prior practice and work would be needed.
